What's New in DockFlow 1.88
Improvements
- Fewer Keychain password prompts – Your license is now stored securely without asking for your Mac password. It moves over on its own and stays active.
- Your ExtraDock docks are always listed – DockFlow now shows every ExtraDock dock in your presets, even when ExtraDock hasn't sent an update for a while.
- Less writing to your disk – DockFlow no longer rewrites its settings file every minute, and it tidies up the temporary files and old leftovers it created, so it stays light on your Mac over time.
- Updated updater – DockFlow now uses Sparkle 2.10, which includes the latest security fixes for app updates.
- Better update logs for support – Settings → Diagnostics → Export Logs now records the step where the installer takes over, and shows only DockFlow's own update activity, even when other apps on your Mac use the same updater.
Bug Fixes
- No more crash when two AppleScripts run at once – DockFlow now runs its scripts one at a time (for example a Safari profile preset and the command-line tool install), so they can't collide and close the app.
- App notes and launch actions stay put – Notes and launch actions you add to an app keep working whether the app is on your Mac right now or not (for example on an unplugged drive), and saving a preset no longer removes them.
- Export Logs can't freeze DockFlow – If the save panel disappears or the chosen location stops responding, DockFlow keeps working and you can simply try the export again.
What's New in DockFlow 1.87
New Features
- Talk setup guide – Settings → Talk Integrations now has a Setup Guide that walks you through connecting ExtraDock and ExtraBar, with links to the online guide and to Appit Studio support.
- Monochrome menu bar icon – A new one-color DockFlow icon that matches light and dark menu bars. It is the default if you never picked an icon; a logo you already chose stays as it is.
- Software updates in Export Logs – Settings → Diagnostics → Export Logs now includes DockFlow's update history, so support can help when an update gets stuck.
Improvements
- Presets don't steal focus – A preset's Open App action leaves apps that are already running alone and starts the others in the background, so switching presets no longer pulls windows forward.
- Menu Bar Only stays out of the way – The main window no longer opens at launch, at login, or when another app wakes DockFlow in the background. Opening DockFlow yourself from Spotlight or Finder still shows it.
- Smoother ExtraDock reconnects – When the connection drops, DockFlow reconnects to the ExtraDock that is already running instead of opening ExtraDock again.
- Faster, more responsive launch – Checking connected apps and loading and applying Focus presets no longer happen on the main thread, so DockFlow responds right away after it starts.
- Clearer Talk messages – Messages about ExtraDock now use ExtraDock's current setting names, Talk Integrations and Apps with access, so the steps match what you see.
- Better diagnostics – Export Logs now records how each DockFlow session ended and why ExtraDock connections dropped and reconnected.
Bug Fixes
- New ExtraDock docks stay visible – A dock you create in ExtraDock after saving a preset is no longer hidden when you switch presets. Docks you turned off in a preset stay hidden.
- Menu bar icon no longer stretched – Every menu bar icon keeps its real shape.
- Removed a sidebar button that did nothing – On macOS 14 and later the main window no longer shows a sidebar toggle that had no effect.
Privacy
- No third-party crash reporting – DockFlow no longer includes the Sentry crash reporter.
What's New in DockFlow 1.85
New Features
- Connect your Appit Studio apps – DockFlow, ExtraDock and ExtraBar now find each other automatically in a new Integrations library, with no pairing codes. Approve a connection once and it reconnects on its own after restarts. Works with ExtraDock 4.4.2, ExtraDock 5.1.0 and ExtraBar 1.6.3 or later.
- One entry per app – Settings → Talk Integrations lists ExtraDock 5, ExtraDock 4 and ExtraBar separately. Open an entry to see what the connection allows, then select Connect. DockFlow never launches another app or grants access just by finding it.
- Your ExtraDock choice sticks – Connecting ExtraDock 4 or ExtraDock 5 sets which one your presets control, and DockFlow keeps using it instead of quietly switching to the other.
- Disconnect means disconnect – After you disconnect or cancel a connection, DockFlow stays disconnected until you connect again.
Improvements
- Smoother Settings scrolling – The sidebar and each page now scroll on their own, and every page opens at its top.
- Settings fits smaller screens – The Settings window no longer needs 850 points of height; it opens at a comfortable size and moves back onto the screen if it was saved somewhere it no longer fits.
What's New in DockFlow 1.84
Bug Fixes
- Menu Bar Only stays out of the Dock – DockFlow now launches as a menu bar app, so Menu Bar Only mode no longer flashes a Dock icon at launch. Dock app only and With Dock icon still show the Dock icon as before.
- No surprise windows on background launches – Show main window on launch now applies only when you open DockFlow yourself. Launches from ExtraBar or ExtraDock over Talk, dockflow:// links, Shortcuts and App Intents stay windowless.
Security
- Modified copies are stopped at launch – DockFlow now detects copies that were modified by a third party, explains what happened, offers a link to download a genuine copy and quits. Genuine copies and existing licenses are unaffected.
What's New in DockFlow 1.83
Bug Fixes
- CLI apply crash – DockFlowCLI apply crashed with "Illegal instruction" on every run in 1.82, which broke scripts and automations that switch presets from the command line. The Skip Reapplying Current Preset check now reads the app's preferences correctly when the CLI runs from inside DockFlow.app, so apply works again with --name, --id, --native and --skip-if-active. The list command was not affected.
What's New in DockFlow 1.82
New Features
- Control ExtraDock through Talk – Presets can now show and hide ExtraDock docks over the Talk SDK instead of the legacy bridge, with both ExtraDock 4 and ExtraDock 5. Open Settings → Talk Integrations, click Connect… on the ExtraDock card, press Start Pairing in ExtraDock, compare the verification code in both apps and approve in ExtraDock. Access is saved per ExtraDock generation and reconnects on later launches without a new pairing. Requires ExtraDock 4.3.18 or ExtraDock 5.0.9 or later.
- Live dock updates – With Talk connected, DockFlow receives ExtraDock's dock list and changes as they happen, so presets always act on the current docks.
- Apps that can use DockFlow – Settings → Talk Integrations lists the apps allowed to control your presets with an Allowed / Needs attention status per app, plus Permissions… and Remove…. In the consent panel, Allow is enabled only after you confirm the code matches, and permissions are described in plain language.
- Diagnostics page – Settings → Diagnostics → Export Logs… saves the last five hours of DockFlow's own log entries to a text file you can send to support. Nothing is uploaded automatically.
- CLI honors Skip Reapplying Current Preset – DockFlowCLI apply now follows the Skip Reapplying Current Preset setting from the app, and --skip-if-active requests the same behavior for a single invocation. A skipped apply exits successfully without rewriting Dock preferences, restarting the Dock or closing applications.
Improvements
- Bridge and Talk side by side – Settings → Integrations keeps the original ExtraDock bridge pane. While Talk controls ExtraDock, the pane shows a "Controlled through Talk" card; turn the bridge toggle on to switch back. At launch DockFlow uses Talk when a grant exists and the bridge otherwise, and an ExtraDock build without Talk support keeps working through the bridge.
- Presets reach ExtraDock reliably – Right after a preset restarts the macOS Dock, ExtraDock 5 briefly reports its docks as unavailable. DockFlow now retries those docks after 0.4 s and again after 0.9 s so the switch lands; timeouts and disconnects are never replayed.
- Clearer ExtraDock status – The ExtraDock card tells apart an ExtraDock that is running but not yet connected, a build without Talk support, an active bridge and a connected ExtraDock with no docks. When some docks did not apply, it reports a count per status and logs each dock's status and message.
- No surprise launches – Talk never launches ExtraDock on its own; only an explicit Connect does. Forget Connection removes DockFlow's own copy of the access, while ExtraDock keeps its grant until you revoke DockFlow there.
What's New in DockFlow 1.81
New Features
- Startup Preset – Choose a preset to activate automatically whenever DockFlow starts, including at login (General → Startup). If the preset uses ExtraDock, DockFlow waits for ExtraDock to be ready before applying it.
- ExtraBar Integration – ExtraBar's new DockFlow widget can list your presets, show the active one and switch presets. Pair ExtraBar from Settings → Integrations → ExtraBar; access is explicit and can be revoked at any time.
What's New in DockFlow 1.80
Improvements
- Authentication – License authentication flow improved.
What's New in DockFlow 1.79
Improvements
- Authentication – Authentication flow improved.
What's New in DockFlow 1.77
Improvements
- Smoother Rapid Preset Switching – Switching presets quickly one after another now jumps straight to the last one you picked instead of working through every switch in turn.
- No More Getting Stuck – The behind-the-scenes work DockFlow does to rebuild your Dock now gives up and cleans itself up if it takes too long, so the app can't sit there waiting.
Bug Fixes
- The Window Always Comes Back – Clicking DockFlow in the Dock now always brings the main window to the front — even when Settings or an import window is already open, or the window was minimized.
- Reopening After Closing – Closing the main window and opening it again now reliably brings back the same window instead of leaving you with nothing on screen.
- Your Dock Items Stay in Order – Folders, files, and links in a preset now keep the exact order you put them in. Presets whose order got scrambled by an older version are quietly repaired the next time DockFlow starts.
- Reordering Shows Up Right Away – Moving items around in a preset now updates the list instantly instead of taking a moment to catch up.
- Deleting an Item Leaves the Rest Alone – Removing a folder or file from a preset no longer shuffles the items that remain.
- Editing a Preset Is All or Nothing – Preset contents are now saved in a single step. If something goes wrong your preset is left exactly as it was and DockFlow tells you, instead of half-saving the change.
- Your Remembered Dock Stays Safe – If applying a preset doesn't fully go through, DockFlow no longer overwrites the Dock it saved for you beforehand.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback!
What's New in DockFlow 1.76
New Features
- ExtraDock 5 Support – DockFlow now works with the all-new ExtraDock 5. Hide and show
your extra docks per preset just like before — DockFlow detects which version of ExtraDock you have and
talks to it automatically. ExtraDock 4 remains fully supported.
- Richer ExtraDock Previews – The per-preset ExtraDock preview now shows files and
system items with their own icons, alongside apps, folders, and widgets.
Improvements
- Rebuilt Focus Integration – The macOS Focus integration has been rebuilt from the
ground up as a dedicated system extension. Presets linked to a Focus now switch reliably every time —
including after your Mac has been asleep or DockFlow has been idle in the background.
- More Dependable ExtraDock Switching – Dock visibility changes are now sent to
ExtraDock 5 as a single confirmed request with automatic retries, so rapid preset switches no longer
risk leaving docks in the wrong state.
- Automatic ExtraDock Recovery – If ExtraDock restarts or gets out of sync, DockFlow now
automatically re-applies the dock visibility for your current preset.
Bug Fixes
- Focus Filter Loading in System Settings – Fixed an issue where adding the DockFlow
Focus Filter in System Settings could show "Could not load Focus Filter."
- Focus Preset Picker on macOS 26.5 – Worked around a macOS 26.5 issue where the preset
picker in the Focus filter sheet showed stuck or duplicate checkmarks and wouldn't keep your selection.
Note: Focus filters now reference presets by name, so if you rename a preset you'll need to re-select
it in your Focus filter.
- Stale ExtraDock Lists in Presets – Per-preset ExtraDock settings now clean up docks
that no longer exist, and newly added docks stay hidden until you switch them on — no more surprise
docks appearing after an ExtraDock update.
- ExtraDock Sync for the Active Preset – Re-applying the currently active preset (with
"skip if already active" enabled) now still syncs your ExtraDock visibility instead of skipping
it.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback!
What's New in DockFlow 1.72
Bug Fixes
- Focus Mode Integration Fix – Resolved a minor issue in the macOS Focus integration so
presets linked to a Focus switch over more reliably.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback!
What's New in DockFlow 1.71
Improvements
- More Reliable Focus Mode – Presets linked to a macOS Focus now apply correctly every
time, even after you've renamed a preset or your Mac has been asleep.
- More Dependable Preset Creation – Creating a preset from your current Dock now captures
everything accurately, and you'll get a clear heads-up if your Dock is empty or can't be read instead of
silently creating a blank preset.
Bug Fixes
- Easier-to-Click Buttons – Fixed the "Create Preset" and "Cancel" buttons so the entire
button responds to your click.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback!
What's New in DockFlow 1.70
Improvements
- Settings in Menu Bar – Settings is now accessible directly through the menu bar dropdown
for quicker access.
- Relocate Locked Dock in Menu Bar – Relocate Locked Dock is now accessible directly
through the menu bar. This is useful for edge cases where a locked dock moved away.

crashes in certain situations.
- Show App Crash Fix – Fixed an issue where choosing "Show app" in the dropdown menu
caused app crashes in some situations due to changes introduced in the previous version.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback!

Updates. Related options that were spread across multiple pages are now grouped together.

preview of each dock's contents, including app icons, folders, and widgets. Hover over any icon to see
its name.

- Cleaner Settings UI – Removed informational cards and "how it works" sections
throughout settings for a much cleaner interface.

Permission) directly in the page header.

chosen display after switching presets, connecting a display, or rearranging your screens.

display while dragging files or windows. Previously it only blocked regular mouse movement.
- App List Refresh – The app list in the preset editor now refreshes immediately after
closing the app settings.
- ExtraDock Integration Fix – Fixed the integration with ExtraDock for users who own both
apps. The screen now refreshes instantly when ExtraDock docks are added or modified.

Restore."
- Renamed: Save Current Dock Shortcut – The "Update Last Applied Preset" shortcut action
is now called "Save Current Dock to Last Applied Preset" for clarity.

Important Privacy Update
- Browser Profile Discovery Changes – We have disabled automatic browser profile
detection to address macOS privacy warnings that some users encountered.
- Manual Profile Selection – Browser profile selection is now a manual opt-in process
with full transparency about what data is accessed.
- Clear Permission Disclosure – When you choose to enable browser profile support,
DockFlow provides complete information about the process and prepares you for any macOS permission
requests.
- Your Privacy First – DockFlow does not collect or use any sensitive browser data. The
permission request exists only because we access browser profile configuration files to enable profile
switching functionality.
Why This Matters
macOS may display a system warning about "Sensitive Data" access when DockFlow reads browser profile files.
This warning can be concerning, so we've redesigned this feature to give you complete control and
transparency. You can now choose whether to enable browser profile switching with full knowledge of what's
happening behind the scenes.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback!

this feature.
- Safari limitation: Safari is not supported. Apple does not expose an API to control
Safari profiles without additional permissions.
